The initial aim of this project was to create a 3D modeled scene using an image as a reference; the image chosen was a piece of concept art from video game The Last of Us depicting a post-apocalyptic landscape reclaimed by nature.

Over the course of the semester, and through the use of 3D Studio Max, the scene was planned, constructed, textured and rendered in order to create an image as visually similar as possible to the source reference. In addition to this, the render seeks to convey the passage of time and a sense of depth from the ruined city in the background to the overturned car in the foreground, without the use of excessive image manipulation.

Some small compromises were made such as the omission of the characters and animals in the original concept art in order to capture the essence of the overgrown landscape.
